Workplace injury?

An injury is work-related when an event or exposure in the work environment caused or contributed to the injury or significantly aggravated a pre-existing injury. An injury could occur in your workplace, at a remote location, or anywhere else you are performing work for the benefit of your employer.

What do you need to do if you have been injured at work?

  • Get medical help, and apply first aid.
  • If you need further treatment go to a health professional.
  • Inform your employer about any medical treatment you received as soon as possible; inform your employer about any additional information you received about your injury.
  • Report your injury to WSIB if you need treatment from a health professional (beyond first aid) and are not able to work, or you are being paid less or receiving few hours of work.

Depending on your injury, a corresponding program of care is available for you with approval from your caseworker:

  • Musculoskeletal Program of Care
  • Low Back Program of Care
  • Shoulder Program of Care,  and many more

How long is the treatment?

Typically, treatment for a workplace injury reported to WSIB involves sessions twice a week over a period of 6 to 8 weeks. If our practitioner deems that you require additional treatment beyond this timeframe, they will communicate with WSIB to request an extension for your treatment plan. However, if no extension is approved, your treatment will conclude by the end of the 8th week.
